Had a wonderful few days here. It is truly rural, surrounded by orange groves, and the scent of Jasmine. The service was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. Food was very good and plentiful (this is Southern Italy!), but you could use one of the resort's bikes to use all those extra calories... or have a swim in the large outdoor pool... or take the free private bus to the private beach for a swim in the sea...or just sit on your sunbed and read (our preferred option).There's plenty to explore in the surrounding countryside - we hired a car and toured the area. Matera is an absolute must and we enjoyed a free guided tour, courtesy of the hotel. Although it was in Italian, we could follow some of it and the guide was able to translate part of it for us (which we didn't expect, but really appreciated).It is rural and you will need insect repellent as a result. The beautiful flowers, Jasmine scent and orange groves more than compensate for a few flies..Lovely hotel, beautiful setting, good food and great service...
